Our Mission

Staying Put in New Canaan is a non-profit volunteer-supported organization dedicated to giving our seniors the practical means and social support to live their lives to the fullest, safely and confidently, in the New Canaan community.

Dear Staying Put Members and friends:

With some of New Canaan's best weather ahead, it's time to get out together and enjoy every minute. Please let us know if you need a ride to our events and make a reservation with us so we can plan for rides and food: 203-966-7762.

Thurs., Apr. 24, 1:30 p.m.: "Laughter is the Best Medicine"
Lapham. Dr. Steven Jones, Director of Outpatient Medicine at Greenwich Hospital, will give an informative and fun discussion on the health benefits of laughter. RSVP: 203-594-3620. Free.

Tues., May 6, 1:30 p.m. - 3 p.m.: Gilberties Garden, Westport
Carpool from Staying Put Office and see what is new on the herb scene. Just in time for our gardens!

Tues., May 6, 7:30 p.m.: New Canaan High School Band and Jazz Ensemble
Will team with the Summer Theater of New Canaan at the High School to present Musicals, Masters and Marches. Musicals include Music Man, Grease and Hairspray. Selections from Duke Ellington and marches by John Philip Sousa. Free. Reception following.

  • Wed., May 7, 1 p.m.-2 p.m.: Breast Cancer 101, Lapham - Dr. Pass and Dr. Gruen, Co-Directors of the Women's Breast Center at Stamford Hospital will discuss Healthy Life Styles and Breast Cancer, Breast Health Myths and Facts, and Breast Cancer 101. Free.

  • Mon., May 12, 3 p.m.: Vladimir Alexandrov, PhD.: Will speak about his book "THE BLACK RUSSIAN." The rise of an American slave who becomes one of the wealthiest men in Moscow at the turn of the century. New Canaan Historical Society.

  • Thurs., May 15, 9:30 a.m. - A Slice of Brooklyn. Experience Brooklyn's sights, sounds and New York's best pizza. A Brooklyn-bred tour guide will educate you on the history of pizza. Then take a drive through unique neighborhoods such as Sunset Park, Bay Ridge, Coney Island and Brighton Beach. Call to reserve a place: Lapham-594-3620. Fee: $93.
