Hello Staying Put members and friends

The Board of Directors of Staying Put in New Canaan is pleased to announce the election of three new members to our Board.


LARRY BROWN

Larry has been a resident of New Canaan since 1998. He received his undergraduate degree at Dartmouth College and his MBA at Columbia Business School. He is a retired CPA and most recently was a Tax Partner at Deloitte's National Office in Wilton. He also worked as a Corporate Tax Officer at several Fortune 500 companies.

Larry has served on the boards of several local charities --- the United Way of New Canaan, the Carver Center in Norwalk, and the Interfaith Council of New Canaan. In addition, he is active in many activities at the Congregational Church of New Canaan as a former Deacon and as a member of several church committees.

Larry and his wife, Jill, have two sons and three young grandchildren, ages three, two, and one. All the children and grandchildren live in Richmond, Virginia and Chicago, Illinois and, therefore the Brown family does a lot of travelling around.

LILA COLEMAN

Lila was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and is a graduate of Bennett Jr. College and University of Arizona, B.S. Education. She married Henry (Harry) Coleman and they moved to New Canaan in 1954. Harry was a Dean at Columbia University. She taught at New Canaan Country School until their children were born.

During her years in New Canaan she has been involved in many community activities. She was Co-President with her husband at Saxe Jr. High PTC, on assorted Guilds and committees at St. Mark's Church for 57 years, President of the Women's Republican Club, a Republican Town Committee member, a Trustee of New Canaan Savings Bank (the first and only woman), co-owner of Kropotkin gift shop, a 30 year volunteer and past board member at Waveny Care Center, a volunteer at AmeriCares for 20 years, a past board member of the Getabout, on the Advisory Board of New Canaan Channel 79 and a volunteer at the New Canaan Food Pantry.

Lila plans to stay put in New Canaan. She is the mother of three, grandmother of nine and Great Gran of one.

NANCY HELLE

Nancy Helle and her husband Herb have lived in New Canaan since l965. Nancy is a graduate of the Westtown School in Pennsylvania and Brown University. Following college she worked in New York City in the publicity offices of Bonwit Teller and Tiffany & Co.

After moving to New Canaan she handled publicity for several years for the Whitney Shop, Waveny Care Center, the Silvermine Guild Arts Center and Silver Hill Hospital. She has served on the boards of Child & Family Services, Getabout and the Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk.

Currently she is serving on the boards of NCTV79, the Sustainer Board of the Junior League and is on the Advisory Board of Family ReEntry and Norwalk Hospital. Nancy is a Contributing Writer for the new Fairfield Living (Moffly Media) magazine and for New Canaan Darien & Rowayton magazine where she is a member of the Advisory Board. She is also a public relations consultant and a member of the Alliance of Business Professionals in New Canaan.

Nancy and Herb have two children, Karen Helle Nemiah who lives with her family in Fairfield, and Christopher Helle who lives with his family in Ardmore, PA.
