Our Mission

Staying Put in New Canaan is a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer-supported organization dedicated to giving our seniors the practical means and social support to live their lives to the fullest, safely and confidently, in the New Canaan community.

Fairfield Giving Day Staying Put was the #1 nonprofit in New Canaan for dollars raised during the March 5th FCCF Giving Day! Thanks to all of you who donated and supported our campaign so that we can continue to keep our seniors happy, socialized and safe in their homes in New Canaan. Way to go SP!

Mondays, May 4, 11, 18 at 1 pm: Go-Go Fit Walk
Meet at Staying Put parking lot and enjoy a 30-minute walk around Mead Park with friends old and new. No RSVP necessary.

Wed., May 6, 5:00 p.m: "Dementia: A Primer for Families and Caregivers,"
New Canaan Library, Lamb Room. Hosted by the Alliance of Business Professionals and Staying Put in New Canaan. Panelists: Stephen Jones, MD, Head of the Center for Healthy Aging; Tania Paparazzo, Director, Alzheimer's Association of CT; Michelle Lee Beltrano, Elder Care Attorney and Kathleen Toombs, Family Therapist. Four experts will provide information on the different types of dementia, practical strategies for supporting those with memory loss, how to adjust the expectations of the entire family and legal aspects of planning for the future. Refreshments. Free. RSVP.

Fri., May 8, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m: Members Art Show
Opening Reception, Staying Put. Come view artwork by many of our talented members. Refreshments. Free. Interested artists, see entry form.

  • Friday Coffee Hour, 11 a.m., Lapham. Melba Neville from Human Services will talk about Health, Humor and History along with coffee and goodies. Free. RSVP.

  • Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m: The Nurse is In! Lapham. Stop by any Thursday to have your blood pressure checked by Robin Boccuzzi, Town Nurse.

  • Ask the Attorney and Ask the Accountant, Lapham. Attorneys Michael Nedder or Michele Gartland of Nedder and Associates, LLC will answer questions about powers of attorney, trusts, will guardianships, living wills, IRA custodianships and more. Accountant Edward Granelli, CPA, will answer your financial questions. One Tuesday a month they will come to Lapham so please call for an appointment (203) 594-3620. Free.
