Minutes of the Meeting of the Staying Put
Board of Directors December 3, 2007

A meeting of the Board of Directors of Staying Put took place on December 3, 2007 at the New Canaan Library. Tom Towers, President, welcomed our new Advisory Council member, State Representative John Hetherington, and three new Board members Terri Connors, John Engel III and Teri Wagner.

Tom Ferguson and Judy Bentley reported for the Development Committee that 100% of the Board has already responded to the fund raising appeal with donations and pledges from all members. To date $135,000 has been raised from donors and there are some significant potential contributions in the pipeline. Word of mouth is very important for our fund-raising effort. David Brown suggested that we need to stress to donors that this is a brand new idea-Seniors helping Seniors.

Betsey Nissen reported that we have a good list of recommended service providers and are currently following up with necessary vendor agreements. Finalizing these vendor agreements is an important part of the vetting process. We continue to seek additional service provider recommendations and will welcome all suggestions. Discounts should be emphasized since senior discounts are a regular feature of many service businesses.

Tom Towers reported that the Volunteer Committee has enrolled over 100 volunteers, almost half of whom have expressed interest in driving. Jane Nyce will be running volunteer training sessions.

Eleanor O'Neill, Staying Put Secretary, wished everybody good wishes for a Happy Holiday season and cheers for 2008 as Staying Put launches in New Canaan in January.

Respectfully submitted

Eleanor O'Neill, Secretary
